Best glue for wood window mortise and tenon joints

by Paul Parkinson

Hi,

I was reading your guide on the best glue types and uses:

http://www.carpentry-tips-and-tricks.com/wood-glue.html

I am currently making some replacement double glazed windows using mortise and tenon joints. The windows will be painted.

Would you recommend the Gorilla Glue, General PVA Wood glue, or the Exterior PVA wood glue as the best glue for wood window mortise and tenon joints?

Many thanks

Paul Parkinson.

Best glue for wood window mortise and tenon joints

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the question.

In this instance, water resistant PVA would be sufficient and what most joiners would use. It would also be the cheapest option.

Personally if I were making the windows for my own home or wanted a particularly good bond, I would definitely go with the Gorilla glue as the best wood glue for mortise and tenon joints.

You can find more information on their website; http://www.gorillatough.com/gorilla-glue
